Communication
  • Sending a message.
  • Process of transmitting data or info from one node/party to another using a medium.
  • Medium is a must for transmission.
  • Nodes are devices connected to a network. Eg: Computers, Mobile Phones, Printers and other peripheral devices.

Voice Communication
  • Transmission of audio signals.
  • Eg: telephone, etc
  • Uses 1G and 2G Technology.

Data Communication
  • Transmission of multiple media ( audio, video, graphics, text, etc ).
  • Eg: Internet, Text messaging applications, etc.

Basic Data Communication Model 

Components:

  1. Source - where information or data is generated.
  2. Transmitter - where data from the source is converted into a compatible format for transmission media.
  3. Transmission System/ Media - where data and information move through in various media.
  4. Receiver - where info and data is received and converted into a format we understand.
  5. Destination - where original data sent by the source is received.
